NBC confirms Xena: Warrior Princess reboot development

August 13, 2015 by admin

It was rumoured last month that NBC were working on a reboot of classic 90s TV series Xena: Warrior Princess, however those rumours were squashed by Lucy Lawless, who played the character in the original show. But it seemed to cause enough of a stir, because NBC have officially announced they are working on a reboot and are looking for writers.

“Yes, we’re in the early stages of developing a new take on Xena and we’re looking for a writer. We want to do it,” NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt told The Hollywood Reporter. “I don’t think it’s just a continuation, but we haven’t gotten that far. I think it’s a great character, and we should try to figure out how to revive it somehow.”

If a #Xena reboot gets made, it’s because the fans are beautiful, hardcore nutballs who want what they want.

Xena: Warrior Princess began its life as a spinoff of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and was a huge success, running for a total of 134 episodes across six seasons. Original show runners Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert are also rumoured to be a part of this reboot, but there is still no word on Lawless – although she said she would love to see the show back.
