Game of Thrones casts Freddie Stroma as Samwell Tarly’s brother for season 6

September 5, 2015 by Justin Cook

Freddie Stroma (UnREAL) has been added the the ever-expanding cast of Game of Thrones season 6. According to Variety, the actor will reportedly portray Dickon Tarly, the brother of John Bradley’s Samwell Tarly.

Dickon is not only younger and stronger than Sam, but also his father’s rightful heir, a distinction Sam lost out on when he was forced to choose between death or joining the Night’s Watch. In fact, Lord Randyll Tarly, Sam’s father, may be popping up in season 6 as well.

Stroma will be making his debut on the show next season alongside numerous other new additions, including Ian McShane (Deadwood), Max von Sydow (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Pilou Asbæk (Lucy).

The actor recently starred on Lifetime’s critically acclaimed drama series UnREAL, on which he played bachelor Adam Cromwell. His other credits include multiple Harry Potter movies, Pitch Perfect, The Inbetweeners 2 and Michael Bay’s upcoming 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.

Game of Thrones will return to HBO in 2016.
