Gal Gadot cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, Callan Mulvey tipped for villain role

December 4, 2013 by admin

Well, the rumours were true… the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight are set to be joined by the Amazon Princess in Warner Bros.’ upcoming superhero team-up Batman vs. Superman, with up-and-coming actress Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious, Date Night) securing the role of Wonder Woman in what will be the character’s first big screen appearance.

“Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” says director Zack Snyder in an official statement. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.”

Gadot was one of several actresses rumoured for the role of Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman, with the other contenders said to include Olga Kurylenko (Oblivion) and Elodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation). Gadot will join returning Man of Steel stars Henry Cavill (Clark Kent / Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), with Ben Affleck (Argo) joining the cast as Bruce Wayne / Batman.

Meanwhile, according to Variety – who first identified Gadot as a candidate for Wonder Woman – The Flash is still said to be a lock to appear “in some fashion, whether that’s a significant role or a cameo”, while the site is also tipping Callan Mulvey (Zero Dark Thirty, 300: Rise of an Empire) for the lead role of the as-yet-unrevealed villain. Who is probably Lex Luthor. Or Doomsday, if you believe completely random internet rumours.

How do you feel about Wonder Woman appearing in Batman vs. Superman, and is Gal Gadot the right woman for the job? Let us know in the comments below…
