Grant Gustin and Tom Cavanagh on the introduction of time travel in The Flash

January 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this week it was revealed that the hit CW superhero series The Flash is set to introduce the concept of time travel in the upcoming fifteenth episode of its first season. Now Barry Allen himself Grant Gustin has suggested that could potentially change the entire landscape of the DC show:

“We are diving deep into the time-travel element and it is going to be wild,” Gustin tells THR. “I think it would be fun if it totally changed the show for season two.”

One character who will surely play a big role in the time travel element is that of Barry’s arch-nemesis Reverse Flash, and Tom Cavanagh has also spoken about his excitement at the prospect:

“It’s ultimately why I signed on to this job. Not to play a scientist, but to play a time-traveling bandit. In comic books, when you start talking about time travel — if anybody has followed The Flash, then they know Reverse-Flash and The Flash are not just doing this right now in the present day. They have a long history and there’s nothing that we’re not going to pursue when we try to tell the story. We’re trying to tell all of it.”

The Flash airs on The CW on Tuesday nights. Follow all of our coverage here.
