Deadpool is now the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time

20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff Deadpool has reached another box office milestone this past weekend, with the film now officially the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

By close of play yesterday, Deadpool had amassed $745,974,060 to overtake the previous record holder, The Matrix Reloaded, which earned $742.1 million back in 2003.

Domestically, Deadpool has grossed $349.5 million, which leaves it second behind The Passion of the Christ ($370.8 million) in terms of R-rated released.

Deadpool sees Ryan Reynolds reprising the role of the Merc with a Mouth alongside T.J. Miller (Transformers: Age of Extinction) as Weasel, Morena Baccarin (Gotham) as Copycat, Gina Carano (Fast & Furious 6) as Angel Dust, Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) as Ajax, Stefan Kapicic (24) as Colossus, Leslie Uggams (Roots) as Blind Al and newcomer Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
