Rumour: Birds of Prey will feature Huntress and Black Canary, but not Catwoman or Poison Ivy

June 3, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in April it was announced that Warner Bros. is moving ahead with a Birds of Prey movie, hiring filmmaker Cathy Yan (Dead Pigs) to direct a DC girl gang movie featuring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn alongside Batgirl and several other classic female character from the DC universe.

Now, according to a report at Omega Underground, it seems we may be able to add two more characters to the roster, with the site suggesting that Helena Bertinelli / The Huntress and Dinah Laurel Lance / Black Canary will be part of the roster.

Two characters who it is said will not feature in Birds of Prey are Catwoman and Poison Ivy, both of whom were expected to appear alongside Harley Quinn in the Gotham City Sirens movie that is/was being developed by Suicide Squad helmer David Ayer.

It should probably be noted that these are just rumours at present, and Warner Bros. apparently has several different Birds of Prey scripts circulating. Nevertheless, Batgirl, Huntress and Black Canary make up the most recent iteration of the Birds of Prey in the comic books, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them all featuring here.

Birds of Prey is expected to begin filming in late 2018 / early 2019, which presumably points to a 2020 release date.
