Karl Urban provides update on Dredd’s future

May 1, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Karl Urban, the star of Dredd, has provided an update on a potential sequel or TV show.

Dredd, starring Karl Urban, found a lot of fans when it hit cinemas back in 2012, reigniting interest in the character and his sci-fi world. There has been talk of a potential sequel for the film or Urban’s involvement in the planned Judge Dredd: Mega-City One TV series but nothing has yet materialized.

What does Karl Urban have to say himself about the future of Dredd? Well, in an interview with JoBlo, the actor provided an update: “I really don’t know much. I had a couple of preliminary meetings [about Mega-City One]… gotta be a couple of years ago now, so it’s a long-gestating project. I’ve gone on record saying if I had the opportunity to get back in that world and explore more stories I’d be down for it. It’s crazy, it’s been a few years since that movie came out and one of the most commonly asked questions I get is, when is Dredd 2?”

It certainly doesn’t sound very promising right now for fans of Dredd but at least Urban himself is still passionate about being involved. Are you interested in seeing Urban to return to the role in some capacity? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter @flickeringmyth…
