DC Universe’s Titans season 2 casts Natalie Gumede as Mercy Graves

June 13, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Lex Luthor may be making his way to DC Universe’s Titans at some point in the near future, as Deadline is reporting that the live-action TV series has cast Natalie Gumede (Doctor Who, Jekyll & Hyde) as Luthor’s right hand woman Mercy Graves.

The official character description for Titans’ Mercy Graves reads: “Mercy Graves is the ruthless, cunning, right hand and bodyguard to the notorious Lex Luthor – serving her boss with unquestioned loyalty. Her connection to the Luthors runs deep, as Mercy has been a friend of the family and in Lex’s life since they were young.”

Mercy Graves was created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini and made her debut in Superman: The Animated Series in 1996 before making the jump to the DC comic book universe. She has also appeared in The CW’s Supergirl, played by Rhona Mitra, and in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where she was portrayed by Tao Okamoto.

Gumede is one of several new additions to Titans for its second season alongside Iain Glen (Game of Thrones) as Bruce Wayne, Joshua Orpin (The Black Mysteries: Ghost Stories) as Clark Kent/Superboy, Esai Morales (Ozark) as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke, Chella Man as Joseph Wilson/Jericho, and Chelsea Zhang (Andi Mack) as Rose Wilson/Ravager.

Brenton Thwaites (Robin), Anna Diop (Starfire), Ryan Potter (Beast Boy) and Teagan Croft (Raven) reprise their roles from the first season, as well guest star Curran Walters (Jason Todd), who has been upped to a series regular.
