Lou Ferrigno wasn’t a fan of Avengers: Endgame and Smart Hulk

November 21, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

Hulk smash Smart Hulk!

Avengers: Endgame may have been a resounding success with fans and audiences, but it seems that not everyone was impressed by Marvel Studios’ superhero epic, as the original Incredible Hulk himself Lou Ferrigno has spoken of his disappointment with the film and its portrayal of the Green Goliath as ‘Smart Hulk’.

“What’s happening is that the first two Hulk movies, the CGI was improving, but the last one, Endgame, I was disappointed,” Ferrigno told fans at Canada’s Hamilton Comic Con (via Comic Book). “Because the Hulk needs to be hideous, he needs to be a creature. You see in Endgame, Mark Ruffalo — I think it has a lot to do with him and Disney — I didn’t like the way it portrayed [Hulk]. It took away that beauty, that quality of the Hulk. That’s why a lot of people liked the series.”

Ferrigno’s unhappiness didn’t stop with Ruffalo and the Hulk, as he also went on to state that “too much” of Endgame was “extreme with the spaceships, the shooting, the outer space…. We need good stories. Good elements, good messages about life.”
