Robert Rodriguez directing action thriller Hypnotic

November 2, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Sin City and Alita: Battle Angel director Robert Rodriguez is set to direct the big budget action thriller Hypnotic for Solstice Studios and Studio 8.

Deadline reports that the project, scripted by Rodriguez and Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), will follow “a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists.”

Casting is said to be underway on Hypnotic ahead of a planned shoot in early 2020, with a budget in the range of $60 million to $80 million.

Along with Hypnotic, Rodriguez is also attached to direct the kid-focused superhero film We Can Be Heroes, and is teaming with Terminator: Dark Fate actor Diego Boneta to produce a TV adaptation of the Mexican comic book series El Gato Negro.
