Taika Waititi says Thor: Love and Thunder will be “bigger, bolder and brighter” than Thor: Ragnarok

December 21, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although he’s currently busy with his latest film, the Michael Fassbender-headlined Next Goal Wins, Taika Waititi is set for a return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year as he reunites with Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson and returning MCU alum Natalie Portman to shoot 2021’s Thor: Love and Thunder.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Waititi has revealed that he plans to “double down” on his approach to the God of Thunder with the Phase Four sequel, promising that Love and Thunder will be “bigger, bolder and brighter” than Ragnarok.

“The next Thor film I’m doing, basically, we’re sort of launching ourselves again on this adventure film, really,” said Waititi. “That was the thing really that I loved about doing Ragnarok, it felt like we were just putting Thor on a really cool adventure. There’s always like new things to see and do, and this one, I think we’re gonna double down a lot on that and have it bigger, bolder and brighter. There’s just gonna be some really crazy stuff in the film.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for release on November 5th, 2021, and while specific plot details are being kept under wraps, we do know that the film will see Portman’s Jane Foster taking on the mantle of Mighty Thor.
