Lark Voorhies feels “slighted and hurt” by Saved By the Bell reboot snub

February 21, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Last month it was confirmed that Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen will be reprising their roles of Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski alongside the previously-announced Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) and Mario Lopez (A.C. Slater) in NBC’s Saved By the Bell sequel/reboot, leaving just two members of the original Bayside Six absent from the new show.

Now, it’s no surprise that the producers are keeping Dustin Diamond as far away from the new show as possible given the Screech actor’s rap sheet, but there’s surely some disappointment that Lark Voorhies’ Lisa Turtle will be absent from the reunion. And, appearing on The Dr. Oz Show to discuss her mental health struggles, the actress has admitted that her absence has left her feeling “slighted and hurt”.

“I have to admit I did feel a bit slighted and hurt when I was not invited to be part of the Saved by the Bell reunion, as well as other cast members events,” said Voorhies. “Yet, of course, I also realized that having this puzzling [bipolar] disorder may have played a major part in that factual decision. With that in mind, I am truly thankful for having had the chance to work on a show that has been so successful.”

As well as featuring returning cast members, the Saved By the Bell reboot will revolve around a new young cast of Bayside High students which includes Josie Totah (Champions), Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner), Haskiri Velazquez (The Birch), Mitchell Hoog (Harriet), Alycia Pasqual-Pena (Chase) and Belmont Cameli (Empire).

Are you disappointed that we won’t be seeing Lisa Turtle back in the new Saved By the Bell? Let us know in the comments or on our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
