Here’s why Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine never wore his iconic yellow mask

May 28, 2020 by Samuel Brace

James Mangold, director of Logan and The Wolverine, explains why Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine never put on his iconic mask.

While Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is seen as one of the very best parts of Fox’s X-Men franchise, many fans were disappointed that he never put on his iconic yellow and black mask from the comics.

Why was this? Well, director of The Wolverine and Logan, James Mangold, explained why on Twitter during a watch party for Logan: “Sorry. He never put it on. We never even made a version of the outfit. Everything about his character as I understand it, would keep him from donning a self promoting “uniform”. I’m sure the next incarnation of the Wolverine will go there.”
