Creepshow animated special arriving on Shudder this Halloween, will feature stories by Stephen King and Joe Hill

September 25, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Although the second season of the Shudder exclusive horror anthology series Creepshow has only recently started production after an indefinite delay due to the ongoing global health crisis, the streaming service has announced a brand new Creepshow animated special will debut on October 26th – just in time for the Halloween season.

The animated special will feature adaptations of two stories written by Stephen King and Joe Hill and will be directed by Creepshow showrunner Greg Nicotero. Although the tweet is no longer available, taking to Twitter (via Bloody Disgusting), Shudder announced the details for the two stories set to feature in the new episode along with a new look at The Creep.

“Though Greg Nicotero and his team are hard at work shooting season 2 (coming in 2021), they’ve crafted a fully animated Creepshow special for us just in time for Halloween, featuring two tales to die for: “Survivor Type,” based on the short story by Stephen King and adapted by Nicotero, stars Kiefer Sutherland (24, Designated Survivor) as a man determined to stay alive alone on a deserted island no matter what the cost. “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead,” based on the short story by Joe Hill and adapted by Melanie Dale, stars Joey King (The Kissing Booth, The Act) as a teen whose family road trip includes a visit to the gravest show on earth.”

“Halloween wouldn’t be complete without Creepshow,” said Nicotero, “so with the help of the father and son team of Stephen & Joe as well as a fantastic animated format, we get to continue the tradition and spirit of Halloween,”
