PUBG Update 12.1 arrives for PC gamers today

June 2, 2021 by Andrew Newton

Update 12.1 arrives for PUBG players on PC today and brings with it a remaster of Miramar, El Solitario themed outfits, a new weapon, a new vehicle, a new 2 month Ranked Season and much more.  Console players will have to wait just a little longer with the update set to arrive on 10th June.  You can watch the new update video below….

Update 12.1 sees a remastering of Miramar, which last saw some attention back in 2019 when it had a few new aesthetics and lore elements.  Now, there’s been a major visual update that employs the same methods used on the more recent Paramo and Haven maps.  To travel around this remastered map, players can now jump on the new Quad bike.  This ATV is modelled after a racing-style ATV but includes a rear seat for a passenger.

A new Lynx AMR weapon is available through Care Packages in Miramar normal matches and is PUBG’s very first Anti-Material Rifle.  This semi-automatic weapon is great at penetrating military equipment and body armour and is an effective sniper rifle when used properly.  Talking of weapons, a new weapon skin upgrade system makes its debut allowing players to evolve the cosmetics of certain weapon skins by using specific in-game materials and goods.  These evolved weapon skins will gain new features as they are levelled up.

Running through to the end of the year, players will be able to acquire two El Solitario-themed outfits and the company’s popular “Desert Wolves” off-road motorcycle in-game.  These outfits are the “El Solitario Biker Set” and the “El Solitario Wolf Set” with each consisting of a unique helmet, body suit, gloves and boots.

Finally, there’s entertainment for players on the starting island in the form of a football (soccer ball to our American friends).  While waiting for a match to start, players can have a kick about with others or just practice a safer type of shooting.

Update 12.1 is available for PC players now with the console update arriving on the 10th June.
