Marvel’s Kevin Feige provides Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 update, confirms international setting

April 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

While Marvel isn’t given much away about its Phase Four plans – with an official announcement set to arrive in summer 2019 – we do know that the next run of MCU movies will get underway with a sequel to last year’s web-slinger reboot Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Out and about on the press tour for Avengers: Infinity War [read our spoiler-free review here], Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has provided an update on Homecoming 2, as well as confirming rumours that Spidey will be leaving New York City and heading overseas.

“We start filming early July,” Feige told io9. “We film in London. We shot first film in Atlanta. And we shoot a lot of films in London but there’s another reason we’re shooting in London which is, yes, Spidey, of course, will spend some time in New York, but he’ll spend some time in other parts of the globe.”

Feige also went on to reveal that the choice of villain for the sequel also plays in to the jetsetting, telling Den of Geek:

“We’ve chosen a villain, and I think the storyline is fairly impacted by the locations we go to. We love the notion of taking Spider-Man to places around the world that we haven’t seen him in before. And we have a villain who I think will play into that nicely.”
