Bryce Dallas Howard wanted to wear heels in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

June 5, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Bryce Dallas Howard, one of the stars of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, has said that she wanted to make sure her character wore heels in the movie.

For those that remember the massively successful Jurassic World, Bryce Dallas Howard’s character Claire was in the unfortunate position of being caught in heels during the park’s downfall – a situation that has since stirred plenty of very important conversation online.

And while Claire is sure to rectify her mistakes next time around, Howard has revealed that after reading the script she wanted to make a push for the character to wear a pair of heels at certain points in the movie.

Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: “I just circled that when I was reading it and I was like ‘No…no it’s an office, Claire would wear heels.’ And then it was like another scene where I’m like ‘hmm, well Claire’s kind of like…she’s going to wear heels in this scene also.’”

While Howard says that Claire will learn her lesson and adopt some boots at some point, wearing heels was still important to the character: “It’s a part of the character and kind of a metaphor for her journey. It was a crucial part of her characterization going into the new movie.”

Whether or not Claire wears heels or not surely won’t be the most important plot point of Jurassic World 2 but hopefully, she will be a bit nimbler when fleeing from a t-rex if she changes out of them for the action sequences.

It’s been four years since theme park and luxury resort Jurassic World was destroyed by dinosaurs out of containment. Isla Nublar now sits abandoned by humans while the surviving dinosaurs fend for themselves in the jungles.

When the island’s dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Owen is driven to find Blue, his lead raptor who’s still missing in the wild, and Claire has grown a respect for these creatures she now makes her mission. Arriving on the unstable island as lava begins raining down, their expedition uncovers a conspiracy that could return our entire planet to a perilous order not seen since prehistoric times.

With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful series in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is set for release on June 22nd, 2018 and sees J.A. Bayona directing a cast that includes franchise veterans Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum alongside newcomers Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Rafe Spall (Black Mirror), Justice Smith (The Get Down), Ted Levine (Silence of the Lambs), James Cromwell (The Young Pope), Daniella Pineda (The Detour) and Geraldine Chaplin (A Monster Calls).
