Reese Witherspoon set for Legally Blonde 3, will release on Valentine’s Day 2020

June 8, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Reese Witherspoon has officially signed on to reprise her role as Elle Woods for Legally Blonde 3, which will reunite the actress with screenwriters Kirsten ‘Kiwi’ Smith and Karen McCullah, as well as producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel.

Witherspoon confirmed the news with the following tweet:

Based on the novel of the same name by Amanda Brown, the first Legally Blonde was released in 2001 and saw Witherspoon playing Elle Woods, a sorority queen who follows her ex-boyfriend to law school where she learns that there is more to her than just her looks. The movie was a hit at the box office, grossing over $140 million worldwide, and spawned the 2003 sequel Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde, as well as a direct-to-video spinoff Legally Blondes and a hit Broadway musical.

Legally Blonde 3 has been confirmed for release on Valentine’s Day 2020. A director is expected to be announced soon.
