Amazon unveils first look at Neil Gaiman’s Good Omens, Frances McDormand to voice God

July 21, 2018 by Ricky Church

As the San Diego Comic-Con continues, Amazon Studios has shown off a first look featurette for the anticipated Good Omens adaptation starring Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Not only that, but they also revealed at their panel that Academy Award winner Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) will be lending her voice as the Voice of God. Check out the first poster and featurette here…

Good Omens was written by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett over 20 years ago. The series is produced by Amazon and BBC with Gaiman serving as showrunner and written the 6-episode series while Douglas Mackinnon (Sherlock: The Abominable Bride) is directing. Filming began in London and will continue there, Oxfordshire and South Africa in the summer for a 2019 premiere on Amazon and air on BBC Two at a later date.

According to the Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch – the world’s only totally reliable guide to the future, written in 1655, before she exploded – the world will end on a Saturday. Next Saturday, in fact. Just after tea…

People have been predicting the end of the world almost from its very beginning, so it’s only natural to be sceptical when a new date is set for Judgement Day. This time though, the armies of Good and Evil really do appear to be massing. The four Bikers of the Apocalypse are hitting the road. But both the angels and demons – well, one fast-living demon and a somewhat fussy angel – would quite like the Rapture not to happen.

And someone seems to have misplaced the Antichrist…

Good Omens will air on Amazon Prime and BBC Two, and features a cast that includes David Tennant (Doctor Who), Michael Sheen (Masters of Sex), Jack Whitehall (Fresh Meat), Michael McKean (Better Call Saul), Miranda Richardson (Churchill), Adria Arjona (True Detective), Nina Sosanya (Marcella), Ned Dennehy (Peaky Blinders), Ariyon Bakare (New Blood), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Anna Maxwell Martin (Becoming Jane), Mireille Enos (The Killing), Lourdes Faberes (Knightfall), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreations), Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) and Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri). It is slated to premiere in 2019.
