Miles Davis biopic Miles Ahead, starring and directed by Don Cheadle, bought by Sony Classics

August 6, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Deadline has revealed that Miles Ahead, the upcoming biopic of legendary musician Miles Davis, has been picked up by Sony Classics, who will distribute the film worldwide.

The biopic stars Don Cheadle in the title role, and also marks the Boogie Nights actorls directorial debut. It tells the story “of a few lost days in the life of the trumpet icon as he bursts out of his silent period, conspires with a Rolling Stone writer (Ewan McGregor) to steal back his music, and relives the years he had with his great love Frances Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi).”

No release date has yet been announced by Sony, but the film has its world premiere at this year’s New York Film Festival on October 11th, where it closes the festival.
