Phil Lord and Chris Miller probably won’t direct 23 Jump Street

August 8, 2015 by Justin Cook

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, arguably two of the busiest men in Hollywood, probably won’t be directing the next installment in the Jump Street franchise.

While attending the Television Critics Association press tour to represent his show The Last Man on Earth, Miller said (via Slashfilm), “We are hard at work on 23 Jump Street, which I think we will probably just produce from a time standpoint. But we’ve been working really hard. We’ve got a really good first draft of a script in and we’re really excited about it.”

Lord and Miller are responsible for helming both 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, two of the most successful comedies of the past decade. In the future, the pair will be producing sequels to The LEGO Movie, directing a Han Solo Star Wars Anthology film, developing Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie and more.

Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum, stars of the Jump Street films, are expected to return for 23 Jump Street, which will be penned by writer Rodney Rothman.

Reports have also said that Sony is working on a Jump Street and Men in Black crossover film, so at this time it’s unclear if this will be 23 Jump Street, a separate film entirely or if it will even happen at all. A female-led Jump Street film is in the works as well.
