Director Peyton Reed already has ideas for Ant-Man 3

October 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Although it didn’t quite manage to match the enormous financial success of Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp proved to be another solid hit for Marvel Studios this summer, with the sequel grossing $622 million worldwide and helping to push the MCU beyond the $17 billion mark at the global box office.

With Marvel keeping its Phase Four plans close to its chest for the time being, there hasn’t been any word yet as to whether Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne will be back for a third movie; however, as he’s revealed to SlashFilm, director Peyton Reed already has some ideas in mind to close out the trilogy.

“I personally do have a trilogy arc in mind for them,” said Reed. “Some of which I share with Marvel, and some of which I haven’t. But definitely where we kind of tool those characters in the second movie was very much in line with what I want to do.”

With Scott Lang – and the Quantum Realm – expected to play a big part in Avengers 4, Ant-Man’s popularity will surely be at an all-time high next year, and so it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly reuniting for a third outing in the near future.

Are you interested in a third Ant-Man movie, or would you rather Marvel focused its attention on other properties? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…

From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes Ant-Man and The Wasp, a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a super hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne and Dr. Hank Pym with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside the Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from the past.

Ant-Man and the Wasp sees Peyton Reed returning to the director’s chair and stars Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Evangeline Lilly (Hope Van Dyne), Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Pena (Luis), David Dastmalchian (Kurt), Abby Ryder Fortson (Cassie Lang), Judy Greer (Maggie), Bobby Cannavale (Paxton) and T.I. (Dave), while new additions to the cast include Michelle Pfeiffer as Janet Van Dyne, Laurence Fishburne as Dr. Bill Foster/Goliath, Hannah John-Kamen as The Ghost, Walton Goggins as Sonny Burch and Randall Park as Jimmy Woo.
