Fox reportedly pulls the plug on X-Force, Gambit, Doctor Doom and more ahead of Disney takeover

January 12, 2019 by George Chrysostomou

As we are quickly approaching the conclusion of Disney’s Fox takeover, it should come as no surprise that we are slowly learning more as to what the deal will entail. One aspect that fans are eagerly awaiting is the introduction of some of Marvel’s most popular characters into the Marvel Cinematic Continuity. Alongside obvious heavy hitters such as Deadpool and Wolverine there are hundreds of other characters coming along for the ride.

It has been speculated for a while that all of the projects that Fox has been planning with its Marvel IPs may be ditched in favour of Disney’s new direction with the brands, and this may have just have been confirmed by Daniel Richtman who claims that his sources have provided a list of these dead projects, including Doctor Doom, Gambit, Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde and Multiple Man. In his list he also mentions that the Deadpool spinoff X-Force is also likely dead as Fox only has around two months to begin production, which looks highly unlikely.

If true, this means the final Fox-backed Marvel movies will be X-Men: Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants, both of which have been delayed from their original 2018 release dates and are slated to arrive later this year.

Silver Surfer, Kitty Pryde and Multiple Man are also dead…

New Mutants will be the last X-Men Universe movie for Fox and Dark Phoenix the last one coming from the main series.

Are you disappointed that any of these movies have been shelved? Would you like to see Disney and Marvel reviving any of the projects, or are you just looking forward to a full reboot as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
