Cate Blanchett set to play Lucille Ball in new biopic from Aaron Sorkin

September 3, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

Cate Blanchett (Carol) is set to play legendary actress Lucille Ball in a new biopic to be written by Steve Jobs and The Newsroom scribe Aaron Sorkin, according to The Wrap.

The film is set to be produced by Sony’s Escape Artists and is said to focus on Ball’s marriage to actor Desi Arnaz who was her co-star in hit 1960’s sitcom I Love Lucy. In addition, the film has the backing of Ball’s family, with Lucie Arnaz Jr. and Desi Arnaz Jr. set to be producers on the film.

Blanchett is to receive the BFI Fellowship at this year’s 59th BFI London Film Festival, where her two new films, Carol and Truth, are part of the line-up alongside the Sorkin-penned Steve Jobs starring Michael Fassbender.
