Dying Light celebrates its 4th birthday with in-game event

February 20, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Techland’s first person action survival horror game Dying Light celebrates its 4th birthday today and in that time has seen nearly 16 million players kill zombies and run for safety.  To mark this this special day, Techland will celebrate with an in-game event that will reward players with double XP and a giveaway of previously unavailable Legacy items, including the Rocket League Buggy Skin.

Since the game’s release back in 2015 Techland have been doing a great job of keeping the game alive for the community by introducing special in-game events, The Following expansion pack, a series of regular drops and the “10-IN-12” program. This has all led to a game whose community continues to grow.

“The last four years have brought not only Dying Light, but also the whole company to a whole new level – our development and publishing teams have grown in people whose passion directly shows in our games,” said Techland CEO, Paweł Marchewka. “Those talented team members and our dedicated community are a huge part of Techland’s DNA and have inspired us to keep Dying Light alive and running for so long.”

“This approach is reflected in sales, which have not just resisted decline but in fact significantly increased from last year, an unusual feat in the games market,” continued Marchewka. “Our tactics of constant community engagement and iteration based on direct feedback from our core players has been integral to this success – taking care to exceed the expectations of those fans and improve the game over time doesn’t just make existing players happy, it infects new audiences too.”

Happy 4th birthday Dying Light, here’s to another 4 years of exciting events.
