Cyberpunk arcade slasher Akane arrives on Nintendo Switch

May 17, 2019 by Andrew Newton

Qubic Games and developer Ludic Studios has announced the release of their brutal arena arcade slasher Akane on the Nintendo Switch.  Akane will have players chopping up their enemies with a razor sharp katana before they inevitably die.  The game is available for £4.49/ $4.99/ €4.99, however, anyone who owns one of the other QubicGames titles will be, for a limited time, able to get Akane with a 50% discount.

Using a one hit one kill gameplay mechanic, Akane will see players dive into the streets of the dystopian Mega-Tokyo to chop, slice and shoot their way through a variety of opponents, including Yakuza, Shooters, Cyber Ninjas, Tanks (the bullet sponge type and not the vehicle) and the Boss, also known as Katsuro, your arch nemesis who becomes stronger and more dangerous every time he is killed.

Players will have access to a range of weapons and equipment to help them on their killing spree, these include different katanas with their own abilities, gadgets that grant improvements in combat, boots to help the way players move.  There are also special skills such as Dragon Slash and Dragon Slayer which also help kill the enemies.

There will be no happy ending this time. The only thing that matters now is how great your kill streak is before you go down.

Akane is available to download now from the Nintendo eShop.
