Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker writer wanted to address how strong the Force is in Episode IX

October 5, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Chris Terrio, who co-wrote Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker with director J.J. Abrams, said that they wanted to address just how strong the Force is.

Throughout Star Wars history, the Force has been this mysterious quantity; part spiritual entity, part science, different users have displayed varying levels of ability in it. But what is the force really capable of?

Well, ‘how strong is the Force?’ is a question that writer Chris Terrio and director J.J. Abrams were interested in addressing in the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker. Speaking to Empire, Terrio revealed:

“‘How strong is the Force?’ It sounds a little simple, but actually when you get down to it, that is a sort of Zen Koan that [Abrams and I] would really meditate on. We would discuss, ‘What is the Force and how strong is the Force?’ Those two things were really important.”

It seems like looking deeper into the force and what it is capable of might be a key part of Episode IX. Is this something you would like to see in the film? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter @flickeringmyth…
