Lady Gaga teams with Ridley Scott for Gucci murder drama

November 2, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Lady Gaga is set to follow up the Oscar-winning A Star Is Born by teaming with Ridley Scott for a drama based upon the murder of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci.

The film will see Gaga playing Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio, who was tried and convicted for his 1995 assassination, serving 18 years in prison before her release in 2016.

The as-yet-untitled film is being scripted by Roberto Bentivegna, and is based upon Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed. Director Scott plans to shoot the feature as soon as he wraps his next project The Last Duel, which will star Matt Damon, Jodie Comer, Adam Driver and Ben Affleck.

The film will mark Gaga’s first feature film role since her breakthrough performance in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born, which saw her receiving the Academy Award for Best Original Song, along with a nomination for Best Actress.
