FX bringing Y: The Last Man to the small screen

October 15, 2015 by Gary Collinson

It looks like Brian K. Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man is finally heading to the screen, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that FX is teaming with Vaughan for a TV adaptation.

Published by DC imprint Vertigo and launching in 2002, the ongoing series ran for 60 issues through to 2008 and “revolves around Yorick Brown — the last surviving human with a Y chromosome — and his Capuchin monkey, Ampersand. The series follows escape artist Yorick after the mysterious plague as he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes.”

There have been several attempts to bring Y: The Last Man to the big screen, with D.J. Caruso (Disturbia) attached to direct in 2008 and Matthew Federman and Stephen Scaia (Jericho) in talks in 2012, although both projects failed to materialise.
