The Mandalorian is already more in demand than Stranger Things

November 26, 2019 by Samuel Brace

The Mandalorian, Disney+’s hit new Star Wars TV series, is apparently more in demand than the likes of Stranger Things and Doctor Who.

Disney will certainly be very happy with how their first live-action Star Wars TV show has gone down with fans. The Mandalorian has proven to be a big hit with audiences, with many praising its visuals and classic Star Wars vibe.

The Mandalorian is so popular that it apparently is already more in demand than mega-hits like Stranger Things. According to Forbes, a new study from TV and streaming data research leader Parrot Analytics reveals:

Seven days out from its season 1 launch, demand for Disney+’s The Mandalorian in the United States was:

  • 298% ahead of CBS All Access’ Star Trek: Discovery on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut
  • 175% ahead of HBO’s Westworld on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut
  • 3% ahead of BBC’s Doctor Who on the 7th day after its Series 11 debut
  • 8% ahead of Netflix’s Stranger Things on the 7th day after its Season 2 debut

Four days out from their respective launch dates, US demand for The Mandalorian was:

  • 58.7% ahead of Amazon Prime Video’s Good Omens
  • 35.8% ahead of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy
  • 15% ahead of Netflix’s When They See Us
  • 11.5% ahead of Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance

These are certainly some impressive numbers! It will be interesting to see if its popularity holds up over the course of the season and into season two.
