J.J. Abrams teases possible Ahsoka Tano cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

December 16, 2019 by Amie Cranswick

We’ve already seen The Ghost from Star Wars Rebels popping up in the trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as part of what we assume is the climactic battle between the Resistance and the First Order, and now director J.J. Abrams has teased another possible Rebels-related cameo in Episode IX.

Speaking to Japanese outlet Sora News during the promotional tour for Rise of Skywalker, Abrams seemingly suggested that fan favourite Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars character Ahsoka Tano could feature in the movie.

“Hmmm, Ahsoka, huh?” Abrams replied after the interviewer revealed that Anakin Skywalker’s former padawan was their favourite character. Well then you’ll probably want to watch closely during The Rise of Skywalker.”

Should Ahsoka feature in The Rise of Skywalker, it would mark the character’s first live-action appearance – assuming of course that she doesn’t also appear in Wednesday’s episode of The Mandalorian.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lost), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
