Kevin Feige says plans for Marvel’s next big Infinity Saga-level event are “well underway”

December 21, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although we’ve got a whole host of Marvel goodness to look forward to over the next few years, with seven movies dated between now and May 2022 and eight TV shows on the horizon for Disney+, we don’t as yet know when the studio will reassemble the Avengers (or a new variation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, at least) for another big event movie in the vein of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Back in October, Marvel producer Trinh Tran suggested that it could be an entire ten years before we get another Infinity Saga-level event, but whenever it may be, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has revealed that planning is already well underway.

“The MCU is all interconnected, but we really focus on one movie at a time,” said Feige (via Omelete). “We’re going to make the best Black Widow movie we can possibly make, the best Eternals movie we can make, the best Shang-Chi, the best Doctor Strange, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Panther… and keep evolving their stories. Then, yes, it is always fun to see them come together in a master plan. Which is, I promise you well underway.”

There had been some speculation that Marvel could be looking to adapt the Secret Invasion story line post-Infinity Saga, although that seems doubtful at present given how the Skrulls were portrayed in Captain Marvel. Marvel does have a few new big bads at its disposal following the Fox acquisition (Doctor Doom and Galactus, in particular), not to mention the possibility of an Avengers vs X-Men type showdown, but at this point we can only speculate what Marvel’s next “master plan” might entail.
