Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker writer hints that Leia and Force Ghost Luke discussed Rey’s ancestry after The Last Jedi

January 2, 2020 by Samuel Brace

Chris Terrio, the writer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, has hinted that Leia and force ghost Luke discussed Rey’s ancestry after The Last Jedi.

One of the biggest reveals in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was that Rey is the granddaughter of Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine. We also see that Leia and Luke have both trained Rey to become a Jedi but did the two discuss Rey’s heritage after The Last Jedi?

Well, writer Chris Terrio has suggested that this is a very real possibility. Speaking to THR, Terrio said: “This one I have to leave to the imagination of the viewer.” However, he did say: “I don’t think it would be wrong to assume that Luke’s Force Ghost would seek out his Force-sensitive, Jedi-trained sister.”

Of course, it was thanks to the training of both Leia and Luke that Rey was able to reject her grandfather and a future as a Sith Empress but it’s certainly interesting to consider what might have happened if Rey had chosen a darker path.

Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) directing a cast that includes Star Wars veterans Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron), Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux), Kelly Marie Tran (Rose Tico), Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca), Billie Lourd (Lieutenant Connix), Greg Grunberg (Snap Wexley), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Billy Dee Williams (Lando Calrissian), Ian McDiarmid (Emperor Palpatine) and Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa) as well as new additions Naomi Ackie (Lady Macbeth), Richard E.
