Sam Witwer says Star Wars: The Clone Wars finale is the “best Clone Wars script” he has ever read

March 24, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Star Wars: The Clone War’s seventh and final season is currently underway on the Disney+ streaming service with five episodes airing so far.

However, according to longtime Star Wars collaborator Sam Witwer –  who has voiced Starkiller in both The Force Unleashed video games and more famously has lent his voice to Darth Maul in The Clone Wars, Rebels, and even Solo: A Star Wars Story – audiences should look forward to the finale as it’s the “best Clone Wars script” he has ever read.

“The finale, that script, was the best Clone Wars script that I ever read,” Witwer shared with Gizmodo. “I think [creator] Dave [Filoni] has done a really, very, very cool thing. When I say script I don’t mean — when I’m talking about the finale, I’m talking about the last four episodes because it’s really meant to be seen as a movie. These Clone Wars arcs that go on for three to four episodes, they could also be cut together as movies and they work as one story, but this one really is meant to be seen in its entirety together, more so than anything else we’ve ever done.”

Witwer continued to explain how excited he is for audiences to see the finale or in his words “the last four episodes” because it is consequential to the rest of the Star Wars universe.

“I’m very very excited for the audience to see it, because it’s consequential, it changes the way you think about certain things in Star Wars,” Witwer continued. He also noted that it “changes the way you think about certain characters, and shows some really interesting core mythology stuff. I’m thrilled, and I’m shocked.”

It is a surprise that The Clone Wars is receiving a final season after the animated series was unexpectedly cancelled in 2013 after its fifth season during Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. However, let’s hope Witwer’s comments come true and the seven-year wait was worth it.

Have you been enjoying the final season of The Clone Wars so far? Does Sam Witwer’s comments make you excited for the final four episodes? Let us know in the comments below or tweet us @flickeringmyth…
