Silent Hill video game rumours are “not true” according to Konami

March 24, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Recently, numerous rumours have been circulating that Konami is currently working on a Silent Hill soft reboot and renewed development talks for Silent Hills. However, according to a North American PR representative for Konami, these recent rumours are “not true” and are simply just rumours.

Speaking to Rely on Horror, the original source of the rumours, the spokesperson for Konami claimed: “We’re aware of all the rumors and reports but can confirm that they are not true. I know it’s not the answer your fans may want to hear.”

“It’s not to say we are completely closing the door on the franchise, just not in the way it is being reported,” the spokesperson added.

Earlier this month, Rely on Horror (via VG247) reported that a soft reboot of the Silent Hill series was in the works and being co-developed by Sony’s Japan Studio. The initial reported also stated Silent Hills – the cancelled Hideo Kojima directed title which spawned the immensely popular P.T. demo – was being discussed with Sony to “patch up the relationship between Kojima Productions and Konami” due to their public separation in 2015.

Besides from the P.T. demo, the Silent Hill video game series hasn’t received a newly released entry since 2012 with Silent Hill: Downpour and the PlayStation Vita title Silent Hill: Book of Memories.

While Konami is denying rumours of a new Silent Hill title, this doesn’t mean something related to the franchise isn’t currently in development and they are attempting to keep it a secret as long as possible or as the spokesperson mentioned, it’s simply not going to be the game we are all hoping it will be.
