Percy Jackson author slams movie adaptations, believes the Disney+ series will “fix it”

June 9, 2020 by Liam Waddington

Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan has once again shared his negative feelings towards the two 20th Century Fox feature films – 2010’s Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

Taking to Twitter, Riordan opened up about his harsh thoughts regarding the feature films following a fan asking him about why Disney+ had censored the casino segment included in The Lightning Thief.

By “fixing it,” Riordan is referring to the recent announcement from himself and his wife that the book series is set to be re-adapted as a television series for the Disney+ streaming service. Considering the author’s negative feelings towards the movies, it’s safe to assume that his endorsement towards the Disney+ series means he is pleased with the directions of the scripts and believes they will be more faithful and satisfying adaptations.

Do you agree with Rick Riordan’s comments regarding the movie adaptations? Are you looking forward to a Percy Jackson series on Disney+? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or twitter @flickeringmyth…
