Worms Rumble release date and crossplay beta announced

October 8, 2020 by Andrew Newton

Industry veterans Team17 has announced that they will be releasing a PC/Playstation crossplay beta for Worms Rumble on 6th November ahead of the game’s full release on Playstation 5, PS4 and PC on 1st December.  To coincide with the announcement a new trailer has been released (see below) showcasing some of the frantic gun-toting annelid action.

This latest trailer also introduces the new Portal Park map which features a fantastical portal that can radically alter the environment.  It also features an underground train track that can provide quick movement to other parts of the map.  This map will be excellent for those who like to use Grapple Guns and the Jet Packs.

Worms Rumble will feature 32 player frantic action and is the very first game in the series to include real-time combat and thanks to crossplay matchmaking players will be able to take on others on both PC and Playstation consoles.

There’s a range of cosmetics to allow players to completely personalise their worm, including outfits and hats.  Worms will also be able to equip themselves with a good variety of weapons with Bazookas, Assault Rifles and the return of the fan favourite Holy Hand Grenade.

“Revealing the release date of Worms Rumble is a very special moment for us, and we’re thrilled that it’s only a matter of weeks away. We’re very excited to see players take to the arenas, and it’s fantastic that through the PlayStation 4/PC crossplay open beta next month we can give them a taste of what’s to come in December. It’s even more special considering we’re celebrating the 25th anniversary of the series in days after the beta, with Team17’s own 30th anniversary coming up just days after the Worms Rumble launch!” Kevin Carthew, Creative Director, Team17.

Worms Rumble will be arriving on PS/PC crossplay beta on 6th November and see a full release on 1st December.
