Rumour: Abbey Lee and Alona Tal wanted for Black Canary in Justice League and Birds of Prey

November 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Get your pinch of salt at the ready, as Latino-Review has a new rumour about the DC Extended Universe, with the site claiming that the Black Canary is set to feature in Zack Snyder’s two-part Justice League movie, with an eye to including the character in a Birds of Prey film further down the line.

According to the report, Warner Bros. is looking at Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road) and Alona Tal (Supernatural) to don the fishnets. Should there be any truth to the report, it would mark the big screen debut of the Black Canary, although there have been several live-action incarnations of the character on the small screen, most recently in Arrow where both Caity Lotz and Katie Cassidy have assumed her identity.

Justice League Part One is set for release in 2017, followed by Justice League Part Two in 2019. The cast will include Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Jason Momoa (Aquaman) and Ezra Miller (The Flash).
