Jaimie Alexander returning as Sif in Thor: Love and Thunder, Christian Bale’s villain revealed

December 13, 2020 by Gary Collinson

Having sat out the God of Thunder’s last solo outing, Jaimie Alexander’s Lady Sif is set to make her Marvel Cinematic Universe return in the next instalment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Deadline reports that Alexander has officially signed on to reprise her role as the Asgardian warrior Sif in the Taika Waititi-directed sequel, and may also make a guest appearance in the upcoming Disney+ series Loki starring Tom Hiddleston (Alexander has previously played Sif on the small screen with a guest spot in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.).

Meanwhile, in news coming out of Disney’s Investor Day, Christian Bale has officially been confirmed as portraying the villain in Love and Thunder, with the Oscar-winner set to play the character of Gorr the God Butcher.

Debuting in 2013, Gorr is an alien from a nameless world who loses his faith that gods could exist following the death of his family. However, when he discovers that gods do actually exist, he vows to extract his revenge by killing them all using his weapon, All-Black the Necrosword, which he acquires from Knull, the God of Symbiotes.

Thor: Love and Thunder is being directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg alongside Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord) and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.
