Tom Holland’s Spider-Man contract is up with No Way Home

March 3, 2021 by Gary Collinson

Juggling production on Spider-Man: No Way Home with promotional duties on his new film Cherry [read our review here], actor Tom Holland has revealed that his contract as the web-slinger is up with the third solo movie, but he’s up for extending the deal “in a heartbeat”.

“[Spider-Man: No Way Home] would be my last one [under contract] so I’ve always said to them if they want me back I’ll be there in a heartbeat,” said Holland. “I’ve loved every minute of being a part of this amazing world. It’s changed my life for the better, I’m so lucky to be here. If they want me back I’ll be there, if they don’t I will walk off into the sunset a very, very happy person because it’s been an amazing journey.”

It’s worth noting that while Holland’s contract may be up, Marvel still has one more Spider-Man appearance under the terms of the renewed deal between Disney and Sony, which called for a third Spider-Man solo movie along with another appearance in Marvel Cinematic Universe film.

And of course, it seems HIGHLY unlikely that Sony would let Holland’s Spider-Man swing off into the sunset without some form of crossover/interaction with the characters from the fledgling Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters, such as Tom Hardy’s Venom and Jared Leto’s Morbius. So, expect Holland to get a contract extension – and no doubt a bumper payrise – in the very near future.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is slated for release on December 17th 2021 and sees Jon Watts (Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home) directing Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Zendaya (MJ), Marisa Tomei (Aunt May), Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds), Tony Revolori (Flash Thompson), Jamie Foxx (Electro) and Alfred Molina (Doctor Octopus).
