John Wick: Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 no longer shooting back-to-back, Chapter 4 to begin filming this summer

March 25, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Last year, it was reported that John Wick: Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 were going to be filmed back-to-back, however, it seems like Lionsgate have changed their approach to the film franchise.

According to a report by Collider, John Wick: Chapter 4 will begin shooting this coming June but there is no mention that Chapter 5 will begin filming after production has wrapped on the previous instalment. However, the outlet is reporting that, unlike the first three films which take place primarily in New York City, Chapter 4 will be an international affair with the shoot taking place in Berlin and Paris, with additional photography in New York City and Japan.

Earlier this week, Derek Kolstad, who wrote all three previous John Wick films, revealed that he won’t be returning to write the screenplay for John Wick: Chapter 4. Now, it is being reported that Mike Finch, who previously worked on the scripts for American Assassin, Predators, Countdown, will be the main writer with Chad Stahelski returning to direct once again.

While plot details are being kept under wraps, it’s safe to assume that Chapter 4 will possibly pick up after the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum with Keanu Reeves’ John Wick aiming to get revenge against McShane’s Winston and The Adjudicator for teaming up and repeatedly shooting him which caused him to fall off the roof at the end of the film.
