Perfect World Entertainment and developer Echtra Games have released a brand new update for their hack’n’slash dungeon crawler Torchlight III. This brand new update is free for Torchlight III adventurers on PC and console and welcomes the Cursed Captain class to the game, as well as new pet species and more. The Cursed Captain is a character that walks the thin line between life and death and as such is able to summon a ghostly crew of pirates to help fight on his behalf. This new mid-range class is able to blast, slice and generally kill enemies with a range of pirate weapons such as huge cannons, twin sabers, powder kegs and more. He also has two unique skill trees, Cursed and Piracy, and those who take charge of the Captain will be able to collect doubloons during combat to power up these skills. This character also introduces the new class-specific ‘Capes’ armour type.
Also available with the update are additional pet slots and four new pet species with over 40 different variants. Players can now add a Stag, Shiba Inu, a cute bulldog and a Fox to their collection of companions.
There’s a collection of new Fort items to discover, such as Fox Arch, Wyrm Skull, and Netherim Specimen, which can be used in a potential new laboratory.
As well as all of the above there’s also improvements to the pet system, a new “Fur and Fashion” contract, UI improvements, bug fixes and quality of life improvements.
This new update is available now and for those still to buy this excellent ARPG, Torchlight III is on sale this week across some platforms.
