Taika Waititi says Thor: Love and Thunder is the “craziest thing I’ve ever done”

June 3, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Following the announcement earlier this week that the fourth instalment of the Thor franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder, had wrapped production, director Taika Waititi has taken to Instagram celebrating the occasion and stating that the film is the “craziest thing I’ve ever done.”

“Sometimes two people come together to inspire the world and change the cinematic landscape forever. And then there’s me and Chris Hemsworth who are too cool to care about anything except making movies that bring people absolute joy. Ok I don’t look cool I know that. This film is the craziest thing I’ve ever done and I’m honoured to bust my ass and have a nervous breakdown so you can all see it in May 2022,” Waititi said.

Although plot details for Thor: Love and Thunder are currently being kept under wraps, Natalie Portman has previously confirmed that the sequel will incorporate Jane Foster’s cancer storyline from the comic books. Director James Gunn has also stated that he has been working as a consultant on the film with the story continuing on from the end of Avengers: Endgame with Thor travelling the galaxy with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok helmer Taika Waititi, who also reprises his on-screen role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Russell Crowe (Unhinged) as Zeus and Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set for a May 6th, 2022 release.
