Angela Robinson teams with J.J. Abrams to bring DC Comics’ Madame X to HBO Max

June 27, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Grab the tarot cards and get ready to read as Madame X makes her way to HBO Max. The Hollywood Reporter broke the story that J.J Abrams and his Bad Robot partner/wife Katie McGrath have enlisted Angela Robinson to pen a series for the Warner-owned streaming service.

Robinson, known for her work on Professor Marston & the Wonder Women and The L Word, will also serve as the executive producer alongside Abrams. This is part of the partnership that sees Bad Robot team WarnerMedia with a $250 million overall deal.

As per THR, “Madame X (aka Madame Xanadu) first appeared in the DC Comics universe back in 1978 and is part of the Justice League Dark universe. The character is a sorceress who has helped the Suicide Squad and serves as Spectre’s spiritual adviser and, in DC’s The New 52, assists the Dark League and was revealed to be the mother of villain Doctor Destiny.”

Could we see Madame X eventually join the Justice League Dark project that’s long been brewing from J.J Abrams and Bad Robot? We already know they are prepping a Constantine series, and Abrams is tacking a new Superman film, which will feature a Black lead.

Currently, Angela Robinson is involved with the new Flashdance coming to Paramount+
