Luca Guadagnino to direct Rooney Mara in Audrey Hepburn biopic

January 7, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Apple continue to shoot for the stars when it comes to upcoming feature-film projects, and they come no bigger than Audrey Hepburn and the news that Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino is set to direct Rooney Mara in a biopic about the Breakfast at Tiffany’s icon.

Per Deadline’s exclusive, the biopic will also be produced by Rooney Mara and written by Vinyl and The Current War‘s Michael Mitnick.

Hepburn was born in Ixelles, Brussels, and rose to stardom in the 1953 romantic comedy Roman Holiday alongside Gregory Peck, for which she was the first actress to win an Oscar, a Golden Globe Award, and a BAFTA Award for a single performance. That same year, she also won a Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Play for her performance in Ondine. She went on to star in a number of successful films such as Sabrina, Funny Face, The Nun’s Story, Charade, My Fair Lady, and in perhaps what was her most iconic role, Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

With the Call Me By Your Name sequel dead in the water, Luca Guadagnino is currently working on his adaptation of the Camille DeAngelis romantic horror novel Bones & All, which will reunite him with Timothée Chalamet, while Mara is set for a reunion of her own by starring in Lynne Ramsay’s Polaris alongside Joaquin Phoenix.
