Fatal Attraction star Joshua Jackson says TV adaptation will balance out the original’s story

May 5, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Joshua Jackson looks to tackle the role made famous by Michael Douglas in a remake of Fatal Attraction. This new version will take a different approach as it will be a series on Paramount+, and the actor has teased that the show, also starring Lizzy Caplan, will differ in a few more ways.

During a Met Gala red carpet interview with Variety, Jackson discussed the upcoming series. Shortly before his interview, Fatal Attraction alum Glenn Close spoke with the interviewer and said she wanted to see the movie from a new outlook. While not spoiling anything, the actor revealed the new Paramount+ series has a bit more of a balanced narrative.

“How else would you update that story other than to give [Close’s] character the fullness of the why?” said Jackson. He continues, “In 1989, maybe the focus was a little bit more on the man. In 2023, by the time it comes out, maybe we’re a little bit more balanced.”

Paramount+ announced last year that they’d reboot the 1987 film as a series, with Desperate Housewives’ Alexandra Cunningham and Perry Mason’s Kevin J. Hynes penning the remake. Lizzy Caplan soon joined the series as Alex Forrest, with Jackson joining as Dan Gallagher shortly after. At the time of writing, there’s no set release date for Fatal Attraction.
