The winners of the 25th annual British Independent Film Awards were announced last night, with Charlotte Wells’ directorial debut Aftersun leading the pack with seven wins, including Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Debut Director and the night’s top honour, Best British Independent Film.
In the acting categories, there were wins for Blue Jean’s Rosy McEwen (Best Lead Performance) and Kerrie Hayes (Best Supporting Performance), as well as Tarama Lawrence and Letitia Wright (Best Joint Lead Performance for The Silent Twins), Safia Oakley-Green (Breakthrough Performance for The Origin) and Our River… Our Sky (Best Ensemble Performance).
