Homelander packs a punch in Mortal Kombat 1 trailer

May 29, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Warner Bros. Games and NetherRealm Studios have released a brand new gameplay trailer (see below) for Mortal Kombat 1 showcasing the fighting skills of the upcoming guest fighter Homelander from Amazon’s The Boys.  Homelander will join the roster on 4th June for players who own the Kombat Pack and on 11th June for other gamers.

Homelander is the most powerful (and arrogant) person in The Boys universe, and although he comes across as patriotic and heroic to his fans he is nothing more than a murderous, narcissistic sociopath with mummy issues. His lack of challengers in his universe has taken him to Mortal Kombat 1 where he will attempt to assert his dominance on others using his super strength, flying attacks and laser beams.

To start with, Homelander will only be available as part of the Kombat Pack, other fighters available through this pack include the Jean-Claude Van Damme character skin for Johnny Cage; one-week early access to six playable DLC characters – Omni-Man, Quan Chi, Peacemaker, Ermac and Takeda Takahashi. There will also be five DLC Kameo Fighters included but these are to be announced in the future.

You may also notice in the trailer, a first look at Ferra, a new DLC Kameo Fighter that will assist during matches using a range of support moves.  Ferra will also be available as part of the Kombat Pack and as a standalone purchase.

Look out for Homelander arriving in Mortal Kombat 1 this June.
