The Wild Robot sequel already in development at DreamWorks

October 14, 2024 by Matt Rodgers

The Wild Robot is one of the success stories of the fall season, and now director Chris Sanders has confirmed that a sequel is already in development at DreamWorks.

Having crossed the $87 million mark at the North American box-office this weekend, and with $148 million globally, with plenty more international territories yet to come, Deadline report that three-time Oscar nominee Sanders has said “100% yes there are absolutely plans for a second one”.

The Wild Robot is an adaptation of Peter Brown’s award-winning novel of the same name, and tells the story of Roz the robot, voiced by Lupita Nyong’o, who crash lands on an island inhabited by wildlife, where she is activated and must learn to adapt to her new surroundings.

We called the film “an arresting piece of art that does the book justice and then some” that is “overflowing with beauty, and emotion is bursting across every scene” in our ★★★★ review (which you can read here).
