Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion release pushed back to 2025

October 17, 2024 by Andrew Newton

XSEED Games and Japanese developer MAGES have made the decision to push back the release date of Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion to 2025.  The decision for this delay in the new entry of the long-running indie horror franchise comes from, as often the case, the desire to improve the game quality, and in my book that’s the best reason for delay.

Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is the latest in the cult-classic Japanese horror franchise and follows three high school girls as they explore the Amare Est Vivere Hospital to see if the urban legend of its curse is true.  Unfortunately for the girls, the curse is very true and they soon find themselves thrown into a dark realm where they are hunted by the vengeful spirit of Ayame Kirishima and other horrors.

Players will need to help the three friends to explore this terrifying new location, avoid the ghosts and evil spirits and find a way to end Ayame’s curse once and for all.  The halls of the Amare Est Vivere Hospital can be explored in both third person and, for those a little braver, first person. This new perspective complements the series’ visual novel-style storytelling and goes well with the gruesome visuals and spine-tingling audio.

When the game releases, they will be able to survive their way through six different chapters, with eight additional scenarios all filled with plenty of wrong ends to discover.

Look out for Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion arriving next year.
